One of nine Baltic 52 DP’s built, BELLE AURORE has been in this family’s life since the early 1990’s. Very, very lightly used, to the tune of 2-4 weeks per year and then stored at Safeharbor Jamestown Boat Yard. Several years ago, in an effort to maintain sailing despite growing older, the owner discussed with the yard the possibility of an inmast furling system. As there was a used Swan 56’s rig available, the engineers and yard determined this was not a difficult retrofit, and the furling rig was installed. Her owner had replaced the teak decks as well as the engine, and as he loved equipment, she also sports a bow thruster, stern thruster, watermaker, generator and of course air conditioning.
Great layout, aft cabin is a full athwartship’s bed with en suite head & shower. Forward are two guest cabins plus a single in the fwd passage, making her great family sailing boat with the three good sized cabins.
Unfortunately, BELLE AURORE’s owner passed away this spring, and the boat has been donated to Block Island Maritime. She is offered on a lease/purchase situation.
Offered to co-brokers on a commission split of 50/50.
The boat has been in our family use since the early 1990s, and been stored and maintained at Safeharbor Jamestown Boat Yard for almost the entire time. Due to work commitments, the boat was used very lightly, sailing in the Newport-Vineyard area. The rest of the time BELLE AURORE was stored on land at the yard.
We had a great time on her, she has a huge interior and is very comfortable to sail. Because of her light usage, the interior woodwork is very nice. As we grew older, and the boat more difficult for us to manage, the decision was made to go with the in mast for the ease in sail handling. My husband loved boat gear, and was always purchasing and installing some new piece of equipment. The engine was replaced and at last look, was still less than 1000 hours. The yard replaced the teak decks and that video can be seen on their website.
As is usually the case, without the captain, the crew is not able to take over, and the boat must be sold, and begin a new adventure.
