The Discovery 58 is a remarkable bluewater cruising yacht designed by Ron Holland and built in the UK at Discovery Yachts. Drawing on their experiences of the evergreen Discovery 55, Discovery has delivered a yacht with around 40% more volume than the 55 but with all the 55’s DNA and special features. These include:

• A Solent rig, perfect for downwind work and with a practical self-tacker.
• All sail controls are managed from the cockpit, so the yacht is perfect for couples to sail far aboard.
• She also has a genuine deck saloon and the signature raised chart table area, making watch-keeping from below, in open waters a reality.

With her sweet and capable lines, she provides fast and reliable passage times and is beautifully built.

Discovery 58, KARIBU was specified with the utmost care for owners who wanted to cruise in comfort and to have the option to sail far. They have cruised her extensively in the Mediterranean and she has been maintained and updated throughout her life. She has smart flag blue topsides livery and lovely light oak interior. She is ready to sail.

Owner's Comments

We loved the twice-monthly visits to Discovery’s yard during the build, meeting our build manager and the joinery team. We also employed an interior designer to help with colour, leather and fabric selection. Showing now in this spectacular sailing vessel with all the luxury of “A Home from Home”.

We chose a Discovery 58 for the following reasons:

• The inherent safe and stable design that comes from the desk of Ron Holland.
• A large, roomy cockpit.
• Raised saloon and Nav Station.
• The spacious, light and airy owners’ cabin.
• Room for four guests in comfort.
• The easy-to-handle sail plan.
• The galley akin to a top-quality kitchen, designed to be ergonomic and safe, even in extreme sea states.
• The “Climb in” engine room.

Of course, KARIBU has many lovely custom features and good design aboard, but the things that we have enjoyed particularly have been the galley vegetable and fruit cupboard and the cocktail cabinet! Also the leather-inlaid doors and interior styling. For handling, the proportional bow and stern thrusters have been a boon.

We have enjoyed sailing KARIBU extensively in the Mediterranean and have loved the way that she behaves in heavy seas, showing that she is a true bluewater cruising yacht. She is easily handled by two people, and always feels safe whether at anchor or at sea. It has been lovely to own a yacht that attracts so much positive comment from passers-by who always tell us how beautiful she is. Added to all that, living aboard is like staying in a luxury 5-star hotel.

Having enjoyed six glorious years with KARIBU it is time to move on and hence she is being offered for sale.
