ENCHANTED is a beautiful example of one of Hinckley’s prettiest sailboat designs – the Competition 41. With a deeper keel, spade rudder and taller rig than the standard 41, she offers better sailing performance. Only nine boats of this version were built between 1968 and 1975. Bought from the East Coast to Buffalo in 2012, she has benefitted since from being a fresh water boat, and from being stored inside during the winter months. Her interior is gloss varnished and features a built in fireplace. The countertops have been replaced with Corian.
There is a vee berth cabin, enclosed head and the main saloon has 2 pilot berths, 2 settee berths and a fold down dining table. The large chart table opens up to a large keel cooled fridge.
The engine is a 42hp Westerbeke, installed in the mid 2000’s. Hull and decks have been Awlgripped and the forward ports are custom opening stainless steel, which really compliments the boats look. The cockpit is long and comfortable, and the helmsman enjoys a domed wooden seat, a wood rimmed wheel, and instruments in a pod on the pedestal.
Sail handling equipment has been upgraded with self tailing primary winches, a Harken traveller and a hydraulic backstay. She has a nice suit of sails, including a carbon 155% genoa, and 2 spinnakers. There is also a Harken roller furling unit for the headsail.
Electronics are by Furuno, and include a radar and AIS. The boat has been rewired.
The vessel is available to be acquired on a lease.
Offered to co-brokers on a commission split of 50/50.
Since bringing the boat to Buffalo, we have enjoyed her locally both with daysailing and some light club racing. With a young family, we have decided to replace this beautiful boat with a daysailer instead.
