Broker's Comments

If you’re a discerning yachtsman looking for the perfect Tartan 40, then look no further. This classic Sparkman & Stevens Design has wonderful sailing performance coupled with a seaworthy hull shape, solid construction and wonderful teak interior. Only 72 Tartan 40’s were built between 1984 and 1989, and they are always highly sought after.

This centerboard model draws only 4’9” with the board up and has Schaefer Marine boom furling for ease of handling. This is only the second owner for this yacht, and she has been beautifully maintained and generously updated.

Her current owners have gone through and replaced many of the systems. All the running rigging has been replaced, all the standing rigging has been replaced, all the plumbing has been replaced and upgraded to Peggie Hall’s recommendations for an odor free boat. Much of the electrical wiring has been replaced, all the fuel lines have been replaced.

New, awlgrip paint on the topsides, deck, and mast, with new alwood coating on all the exterior teak, and all deck hatches, makes this boat stand out and show as a much more modern than it’s age would suggest. A fresh bottom job has given a nice smooth surface below the water line so, she glides nicely through the water. She cruises well over 7 knots. The Shaefer boom furling system, new Shaefer head furling system, all new blocks and halyards up the mast, and new autopilot, make this boat easy to sail single handed. All the upgrades you might want to do to this boat have already been done. She is truly in turn key condition.

She offers a roomy and safe interior for extended cruising and passage making if your dreams are to sail away, off to distant shores! Just do a web search for the Tartan 40 and you’ll find a number of glowing articles about this boat!

Note

Offered to co-brokers on a commission split of 50/50.

Owner's Comments

The Tartan 40 has always been high on my list for the perfect cruiser. They don’t come up for sale very often and, it’s no wonder. The boat offers so many great qualities, it would be hard to find a boat that could meet them all, with such great pedigree as the Tartan 40. A Sparkman & Stevens designed hull and a Tim Jacket designed interior make this a fast, safe and comfortable cruiser or even live aboard. This boat can quite literally take you around the world with confidence and she turns heads in every harbor we enter.
