Moody Decksaloon 48

From the world’s leading deck saloon sailboat brand, we are delighted to present the new Moody DS48.

Building on the popular attributes of earlier Moody deck saloon models, the new 48 features styling similar to the highly-regarded Moody DS41, once again designed by long-term Moody designer Bill Dixon. The boat boasts a spacious hull with a generous 16-foot beam that extends all the way aft.

Starting forward, there is a large deck locker at the bow, followed by a forward sundowner cockpit with two seats facing each other and a table between them.

Next, you’ll find a sunbed area on deck, leading down gently sloping side decks that can be softly backlit. This path takes you to the expansive cockpit with twin helm stations. A wet bar and BBQ module can be installed between the helm seats, and just a couple of steps down is the main cockpit seating area. This space features twin tables that adjust in height, along with two long settees, and is protected by the deckhouse overhangs and a retractable bimini.

Entering the accommodation through glass doors, you step into the spacious deck saloon, with its full-width galley aft. Forward of the galley, there is a choice of either a dinette or a chart table to port, along with a U-shaped settee and table to starboard. The saloon offers excellent 360° views and is light and airy. In bad weather, navigation is easy from inside, with an autopilot and throttle controls at the nav table.

Moving forward, the standard layout includes two cabins, each with a head and stall shower, as well as a workroom to port. Alternatively, a third cabin with an additional head and stall shower can be added. Large hull windows and ample overhead hatches keep the cabins well-lit, airy, and spacious.

The galley can be customized with up to four refrigerators, a microwave, a dishwasher, and even a washing machine, which can be installed in the workroom or cockpit locker.

The standard engine is a Yanmar 110 horsepower, with an optional 150 horsepower upgrade. You can also equip the boat with a generator, solar panels, and a fuel cell.

Aft, there is a large dinghy locker that can be fitted with a davit for easy dinghy launch and retrieval.

As with other Moodys, a wide range of wood finishes, fabrics, and electronics options are available, along with push-button sailing capabilities via electric in-mast furling and electric furling headsails. The jib is self-tacking, making the boat exceptionally easy to sail short-handed.
