SPIRIT is hull number 15 of the impressive Sou’wester 50 Yawl series. She has seen extensive upgrades over the years, including new hull and deck paint, a replaced engine, and updated electronics, leaving her exceptionally well-equipped. The current owner has kept the boat in Narragansett Bay for light cruising in Rhode Island waters. During the winter, she is hauled and protected by a custom canvas deck cover.

She features twin furling headsails, though the staysail furler is currently stored off the boat at the owner’s home. The mainsail is equipped with electric in-mast furling for easy handling, while the mizzen relies on a manual in-mast system. Four electric winches make short-handed sailing effortless.

Below deck, the interior is beautifully crafted in oak and features three double cabins forward of the saloon. A shared head with a stall shower serves the two larger cabins, with a second head located to starboard, aft. The slightly raised saloon sits above the engine space, creating a bright and airy atmosphere with an L-shaped settee and chart table to port, and the galley to starboard.

Hinged stairs provide easy access to the generator, and two-zone air conditioning ensures comfort on hot summer days. With her centerboard draft, she easily navigates shallow coastal waters, yet she is a well-proven passage maker with several offshore voyages—including a Mediterranean crossing—under her belt.
