Broker's Comments

The Moody DS45, SILVER PEARL was sold by us new in June 2012 to her current owners. She was imported to the US in 2011 and featured in the fall boat shows. She has been based primarily in the Chesapeake, with summer cruises to Maine and one winter in Florida and the Bahamas.

Easy to sail and completely loaded, she features electric in-mast furling, bow and stern thrusters, and electric winches. The Raymarine electronics are 3 years old. The interior is satin-varnished mahogany with synthetic acacia wood floors, and the boat is fully air-conditioned. Forward, there is the owner’s cabin with a centerline double berth and an ensuite head with a stall shower and electric toilet. Plenty of light comes from a full-length glass skylight and opening hatches/ports.

There are 2 guest cabins; the starboard cabin has a double bed with storage, while the port cabin is smaller, featuring a double berth and storage. Both guest cabins share a second head compartment with a stall shower and electric head.

In the decksaloon, an L-shaped settee to starboard wraps around an extendable table. On the port side is a forward-facing chart table, with excellent vision, complete with engine controls, an autopilot, and a Raymarine plotter. Aft of this is the galley with a stove, microwave, and top- and front-loading fridge.

Glass sliding doors open on the same level to the cockpit – a signature feature of the Moody deck saloon range – which is shaded by a retractable bimini. On the centerline, there is a drop-leaf teak cockpit table and seating port and starboard with 2 large cockpit lockers.

Stepping up to the helm deck, twin wheels each feature throttle and thruster controls. A plotter on the aft end of the cockpit table swivels toward each helm, alongside ample sailing instruments and autopilot controls.

Sail handling is simplified with a push-button electric furling North Norlam mainsail and a self-tacking furling headsail.

The swim platform folds down to provide access to a large dinghy storage area. Forward, the anchor arm is retractable, leaving a very clean bow. The boat features glued teak decks, wide safe side decks with high bulwarks, and two fold-out access doors in the hull sides.

Owner's Comments

SILVER PEARL has been a fantastic family boat for us, and we have sailed her between Maine and the Bahamas. The deck saloon concept works exceptionally well – it’s light, bright, and airy. She’s also a fast boat; we even won our class in the Figawi race a few years ago!
