Moody Decksaloon 45, STELLAR J

Broker's Comments

This late model Moody DS45, STELLAR J, was delivered by ship to the Caribbean in the spring of 2021 when new, and has been based there since. She is exceedingly high spec at only three years old.

Easy to sail and completely loaded with electric in-mast furling, bow and stern thrusters, and electric winches, she is very striking with a stars-and-stripes painted blue hull with accent graphics. The interior is trimmed in beautiful cherry wood and is fully air-conditioned. In the forward part of the boat, there is the owner’s cabin with a centreline double berth, vanity desk, and en-suite head with stall shower.

There are two guest cabins. The starboard one has the optional athwartship double bed, vanity desk, and storage. Both guest cabins share the second head compartment with shower.

In the deck saloon, there is an L-shaped settee to starboard, which wraps around an extendable table, and on the port side is the forward-facing chart table, replete with engine controls and autopilot. Aft of this is the galley, with a stove, microwave, and dishwasher. There are two fridges inside the boat and one in the cockpit table.

Glass sliding doors open on the same level to the cockpit—a signature and unique feature of the Moody deck saloon range—which is shaded by an electric retractable bimini. Aft of this, on the helm deck, is a fixed arch with extra solar panels and a second bimini over the helm. The boat is loaded with cruising gear, including lithium batteries, solar panels, davits, and the rare shallow keel option with a 5’3″ draft that allows for more extensive cruising along the U.S. East Coast. Sails are by Elvstrom and North, with several headsails and a code zero.

Owner's Comments

We have enjoyed the build process, albeit it was during COVID times, and then, after delivery, cruising the Eastern Caribbean during the winter months on STELLAR J. In the summer, we go back to Canada, so the boat is stored during the summer season. She is easy to sail, fast, and a lovely boat to spend time on, both inside and outside. Since owning the boat, we have upgraded the solar capacity by adding a fixed arch and have integrated dinghy davits. She is now for sale, as we are building a new, bigger boat.
