CHERIDAH is a proper yacht. Her high level of Maine craftsmanship, attention to detail and bespoke design are only found in the finest of custom yachts. Exquisite joinery and finish of the mahogany interior, coupled with a generous galley and a comfortable sunken salon complete with removable bookcase and two double staterooms, plus a multi-use quarter cabin/cockpit sail locker make her a pleasure to be aboard.
Built for bluewater sailing, she is also a superb cruiser with her powerful 6-cylinder diesel engine, and easily managed rig and sail plan affording her quick and comfortable passage to any destination. She has a flush foredeck and was designed for short-handed sailing; complete with the cockpit-controlled sail management including the Leisure Furl boom system.
CHERIDAH is a gentleman’s yacht of another era and was built in Manset, Maine by Hank Hinckley.
She is the last of his large projects and, arguably, the masterpiece of his boat-building career. CHERIDAH has always been professionally maintained and continually upgraded.
Offered to co-brokers on a commission split of 50/50.
Hank Hinckley built a Bermuda 40 for me in 1976 when he was President of the Hinckley Company. Cabot Lyman built a Sequin 46 for me in 1987, an excellent boat designed by Sparkman and Stephens. I sailed both boats for ten years each. In 1995-7 Hank personally built this OC52 for me that I have sailed for the past 26 summers, largely singled handed. Bill Cook’s designs are super, and Hank’s boats are phenomenal in comfort, durability, and function. It is safe and comfortable in any weather and marvellous for entertaining. Age is making me give her up.
