Broker's Comments

The Oyster 655, ROCAS is a terrific and very powerful sailing yacht, with sweet lines from Rob Humphreys and she looks good from every angle. She has a great layout for family sailing with a very spacious main saloon and lovely owner’s stateroom. She also has two good guest cabins and a cabin for crew or for further guests if you are sailing purely as a family.

ROCAS has a carbon rig and fully battened mainsail to make the most of her performance potential and is rewarding to sail, sea kindly and an effective ocean mile muncher. Her large cockpit with twin carbon wheels provides a great interface between the helmsman and crew.

She was substantially refitted at Foxes Boatyard in the UK over the winter to 2021/22 by a project manager very experienced with Oyster yachts. Work carried out included:

• Machinery overhaul. Propeller overhaul. Service and engine and generator start batteries all replaced.
• Keel re-torqued.
• Overhaul of the freshwater system.
• Overhaul of the Navionics.
• New dinghy and outboard.
• Full refit of the rig and sail; rigs went through full refit, mast unstepped and repainted, sails were serviced (main sail very good condition, genoa and stay sail 50% of life) – all by Doyle.
• New liferafts and update of the safety gear.

Further maintenance and upgrades have been carried out during Spring 2023:

• New watermaker – Schenker Zen 100 24V (100lt/h in DC).
• New Raymarine instrument package with pedestals and chart table areas redesigned with new panels.
• The new equipment included: New radar, 16-inch Axiom XL screen at chart table, 2 x 7-inch Axiom+ screens above the companionway, 7-inch Axiom+ screen at starboard pedestal and a 12-inch screen at the port pedestal. Autopilot control. Generator refit. Service main engine and turbo.
• Generator refit.
• Overhaul and refit of service manifold (aircon, fridges, watermaker).
• Winches serviced.
• Engine service and check over.
• New hot water engine/water heater pipes.
• New aircon hoses.
• Service to jib furler (sent to Reckmann in Germany for full overhaul).
• Service to windlass motor.
• New black tanks senders.
• New Wi-Fi router.
• Hull and coachroof / coaming polished, antifouling, anodes, etc.

She is now offered in full cruising trim, ready for the season and she gleams.

Owner's Comments

I have been sailing since the age of 18 years and I come from a race sailing background. When I was searching for a yacht my brief was a nice and comfortable cruising yacht, but at the same time, I kept an eye on performance. With her full battened mainsail, and great accommodation both above and below decks, ROCAS is at the same time fast and comfortable, performing amazingly well in heavy seas. Most importantly, she has been a very reliable yacht.

ROCAS’ “classic” looks, both on the exterior and especially the interior, were a must for us and they are timeless. Her interior woodwork is the thing about ROCAS that I appreciate most.

Under my ownership ROCAS has always been sailed by a professional crew. Whilst she has been ours, we have sailed with her to the Caribbean and have also sailed extensively in the Mediterranean for several seasons.

We commissioned a refit for ROCAS in 2021/22 and the main focus during the refit period was on her primary systems. Whilst a lot was done throughout the yacht, the refitted rod rigging and repainting of the mast were very important jobs.

Life changes and with grandchildren on the way, we are now looking for a property where we can spend more time with the family. Sadly, this means that it is time to find a new owner for our lovely ROCAS.
