The highly anticipated new Moody 48 DS has just made its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf 2024.
Proudly displayed on the Hanse stand, the Moody 48 DS drew a considerable crowd, eager to take a closer look, including a number of American clients.
Our first impressions are that the 48 DS feels larger than a typical 48-foot yacht (it’s actually about 50 feet), with the saloon and cockpit appearing similar in size to the Moody 54 DS. The saloon is lovely and bright, drawing inspiration from the smaller Moody 41 DS, featuring expansive 360-degree windows.
Moving forward below deck, there are three decent-sized cabins, and remarkably, each has its own head with a stall shower.
Above deck, the visibility from the helm stands out as the finest among all Moody deck saloons, thanks to an elevated positioned slightly outboard of the deckhouse. And the high, safe lifeline rail adjacent to the helm positions is reassuring.
Along the signature high bulwark and railing side decks, Moody has incorporated a modern powerboat feature. At the bow, there is a sundowner cockpit area with a removable table. Just aft of this is a sunbed on the foredeck.
Like the 41 DS and 54 DS, the 48 is available with twin headsails; the inner one is a self-tacking jib for upwind work, and the outer one is a genoa for off the wind. We believe most buyers will choose to electrify both of these headsails, as well as the main, making this yacht exceptionally easy to sail.
