The innovative Moody 45 DS was the first new model launched by German builders Hanse – after they acquired the brand in 2008. Taking elements from powerboats, catamarans, and monohulls, it cleverly melds them into a best of all worlds result. With a single level from the cockpit through sliding glass doors into the deck saloon, entertaining becomes easy and fun. A retractable bimini supported by fiberglass wings keeps you out of the elements.
Forward there are three large staterooms, or alternately, the port cabin can be an enclosed office or an open lower galley. The owner’s cabin has an ensuite head and stall shower. The guest cabins share a head, with an optional stall shower. Aft, in the cockpit there are two huge cockpit lockers and a dinghy storage locker that opens on to the swim platform.
With twin rudders, you can have a shallow keel of 5’3” / 1.60m, which is great for the US east coast. With a standard self-tacking jib, and optional in mast furling – these boats are easy and fast to sail. With the standard bow thruster, and optional stern thruster, docking becomes a breeze.
